Gray Never Looked So Good :)

Hello Friends!!  We're SOOO close to finally closing on our house :)  I swear this is the longest house closing in the history of all house-dom! So, we're trying to start on some projects that we can do before owning the house - enter: living room side tables!!  Thanks to my super awesome friend, Ciera (she is actually Ammon's cousin's wife), for giving us these amazing tables!!  It took us a hot minute to figure out what we were going to do with them - since our entire house is black and gray, we couldn't figure out how to paint them.  We're not even sure what our new couch is going to look like, so we had a tiny table emergency :) So, here's the before shot
first we sanded them down.

then we primed them with Kilz primer  - and by the way, I don't pretend that my brain is crafty, if you know me at all, you'll know that I'm probably the least creative person on the planet :) I got this idea and directions from my friend Brooke at all things thrifty! She's probably the greatest ever :) Along with Mandi at vintage revivals.  They're my girl crushes :)

Then, we painted them satin Granite Gray
In case you didn't see the can through all the cuteness - my little brother Haden  :)
Then, after we'd painted them - I glazed them black! And I'm in love :)  - this picture shows the front table glazed, and the back table not glazed.

more after pictures :D

What do you think? Love them? Hate them?  I love them - A LOT!  I can't wait to see them in our living room :D

Big Plans

Hello friends :) Ammon and I have been talking about decor in our future house - he mainly couldn't care less... which works out great for me :D My sister in law told me about this site - and I found this project she did and wanted to faint

Hallway Project

If I can sneak all the frames past Ammon and hang them myself - our hallway will be just like this one! So - I need your help.  I need quotes, pictures, anything awesome to put in our frames!!  Leave a comment here or email me at hayley_bradshaw@live.com :D  I wish I was creative and crafty - but sadly, I'm not! So - send me your ideas, then I will steal them and claim them as my own ;)

Colors, Colors, Colors! Oh, My!!

We've decided on paint for our house!!  I very quickly lost the colored walls debate.  Since we're doing everything ourselves (and when I say "we", I really mean "Ammon" :D), and we want to move in as soon as possible - we are painting the house one color.  Ammon HATES to paint with a fiery passion - so we compromised :)  I get to pick the flooring - Ammon gets to paint the house one color.  Once we decided on a color scheme for the entire house - I felt good about it!  We've decided on GRAY!  Which is a favorite of us both.  We're doing dark flooring throughout the entire house (we're trying to have some foresight for when we have kiddos spilling and peeing everywhere ;D), white base and ceilings, and gray walls.  I feel like I won the battle though, because in each room we're having a different accent color - that yours truly gets to pick!! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!  So - here's the very rough first drafts of our color scheme for all the rooms in the house - tell me what you think!!

the kitchen is visible from the living room - so for right now, we're keeping the kitchen and living room accent color the same

Welcome to our House!!

We bought a house!!  We're a tad overwhelmed, but so excited!! It's starting to set in that we're grown-ups now :) haha, well, we're both 23 so I guess I should have been expecting this day to come! Well - this beaut is all ours!  My personal favorite is the beautiful green carpet :).  Here's a few things you should know about myself and my husband.  Ammon has big plans for our new house!  His style is simple, sophisticated, straight forward, and user friendly.  He doesn't like bright colors or trends.  He likes all of his things to be unique - and being raised in a construction company with his family, he is VERY picky, especially when it comes to houses.  Right now he is in heaven having a project this big, knowing it is all his, and no one telling him what to do with it.  Except me!  I'm his totally awesome wife, Hayley! I have big plans for our new house.  I like bright colors, unique furniture, different themes in every room! My style is classy, Victorian, damask, chandeliers, wallpaper!! Swoon :)  I pretty much love everything and want our house to have a lot of different elements.  I want our house to be the coolest thing to hit southern Utah since 1973 - when our house was built.

Do you see the potential?! I can't wait to get my hands on the oval mirrors in the bathroom :D they'll be making a refurbished appearance soon.  Oh - another thing you should know.  The previous owners were heavy smokers.  The walls are supposed to be white - and you can see where they had frames and clocks hanging - the walls are now a really cute yellowish color - ugh - barf.

Right- a new air filter.  Left- the smoker's air filter....

So!  I hope you enjoy our new project! We should close on our house in a few weeks - then the ripping and tearing begin!  And please let us know what you think! Our first project we have to tackle: paint.  The WHOLE house needs new paint.  I'm in heaven.  I could live the rest of my life painting and repainting my house.  I want lots of different colors - the bathrooms and kitchen definitely need to be different from the rest of the house, in my opinion.  Ammon wants the whole house to be one color.  What do you think?
